SURVEY

Today in class we created a survey.  We used  google docs to do so.  This site offers many different types of questions like multiple choice, short essay, ranking, and some others.  We then sent the form to others to fill out.  It is pretty neat.  You can take the survey by clicking here. MY SURVEY
This tool can be used by a teacher to inquire general information from students like age, schedule for semester, and how they learn.  It can also be used to administer homework or test.
After completing the survey, we then responded to each others and answered each others questions.  It is neat how you can also see the results of your survey competed by others.

Below is a link to the spreadsheet with the results.

This fits with teaching standard 5D
"contribute to the effectiveness, vitality, and self-renewal of the teaching profession and of their school and community"
A school can gather information through a community by a virtual survey.  This can be effective by helping a school realize any changes that need made in curriculum, activities, or other parts of the school system.

WEBQUEST

Today and part of last week, we started creating a webquest.  This is an online activity created by the teacher that students can do an assignment with.  I am currently in the process of creating it so I will publish it when I finish.

Today, December 7th, I finished my Webquest.  It is about shapes and their properties.
Here is a link to the assignment.
WEBQUEST

A webquest is a good idea for online teaching.  It would be great if the students had time off for weather issues.  The teaching standard this goes with  is 4a.

"advocate, model, and teach safe, legal, and ethical use of digital information and technology, including respect for copyright, intellectual property, and the appropriate documentation of sources."

Using google can allow you to give credit for whatever you used in your webquest.  I like it because google also has a general layout and it is easy to fill in what you need.  A webquest can help the students follow directions.

WEB BASED TOOLS

ISSUU- This is an online PDF viewer.  It is neat because you can upload documents and view documents in a magazine style online.  Issuu is a free tool and can be used to display text books.
PREZI-  This is an online tool kind of like powerpoint.  It isn't based on slides like powerpoint.  It looks like a big picture with all the information on it.  You can create a Prezi and it seems to be easier to organize.  We did sign up for an account so we can begin our Prezi experience.  Here is a link to Prezei.
Here is also the sample Prezi I created.

JEOPARDY GAME

Today in class, we learned how to create a jeapordy game.  Here is a link to the free online jeopardy builder.
JEOPARDY LABS
We also used a poerpoint jeopardy.  The professor emailed us a sample template and we edited some of the questions with questions of our own.  It is neat with powerpoint because you can include sound clips and videos and images.  This can be used in almost any classroom with any grade.  It is cool how technology can hep present a lesson while having fun.
To download videos to include in powerpoint, the professor used a site called DIRPY.
The online version has limits.  It can be only used online, so you must have internet access, and also it is text based, meaning you can't include and of the cool features.
The only downfall with powerpoint, that I can see, is trying to keep all the slides organized in a presentable manor.

The teaching standard this goes with is 2D.
-provide students with multiple and varied formative and summative assessments aligned with content and technology standards and use resulting data to inform learning and teaching-

Interactive ideas like this jeapordy can allow students to experience new ways of learning and reviewing information needed to complete the assignments and learning outcomes for a class.
